free crochet stitch patterns - the basics

Crochet is an art which has caught up with women who have a flair for creativity. But learning how to crochet a dress can not only further your skills but allow you to make any number of projects for you, your family, and friends.

I ended up at Wal-mart late at night browsing through the craft aisles and inevitably drawn to all the cool yarns. I always buy an extra ball than is recommended in the pattern just in case you need a bit extra, most good yarn stores will accept them back if you've bought too many. When reading crochet instructions, brackets and parentheses are used to convey related stitches.

Even so, you may still need to play around wth the tension - adding or reducing the number of stitches until the tension square matches that in the pattern. Magazines will contain a number of crochet patterns for baby blankets. Other popular brands of crochet yarn include Baroque, Senso, Cordonnet, Manuel and Flora threads, among others.

Also keep an eye out for how-to kits. That is one of the great things about crochet.
