free crochet doily patterns - have fun while crocheting

Many older women do seem to have an innate ability to crochet, simply because it was a tradition handed down from generation to generation. Crochet instructions can be written out in abbreviations, presented as symbols, or can be a combination of both.

Crochet means hook in French and this is the name given to the craft amongst French, Italians and Spanish speakers. Many older patterns contained just a picture with just a few of the more complicated sections explained, as a consequence you were expected to work from the picture for the majority of the pattern! At the time, knitting seemed over my head and maybe even a bit "granny-ish".

When reading crochet instructions, brackets and parentheses are used to convey related stitches. The Internet can be a great resource for finding patterns for any crochet scarf you want to attempt as well as pictures of the final product. Learning simple crochet will benefit you in so many ways.

I am sure that you will enjoy your crochet experience. Have fun and don't give up to soon when you learn to crochet.
